About NK Architecture

My name is Nick Knoblauch, owner of NK Architecture. I was born and raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I started my journey in architecture at Ball State University where I graduated in 2008 with my Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture. While pursuing my internship I found a deeper passion for architecture in a wide breadth of areas ranging from corporate to higher education projects. In 2010 I started my Masters in Architecture degree at Arizona State University where I had many opportunities to see architecture in different regions and fortunate to study abroad in Argentina. Once I graduated in 2012 I moved back to Fort Wayne to be closer to family, find my future wife and deepen my relationship with God. Over the last nine years we have expanded our family to include three beautiful children. After my children were born I actively pursued my professional license and received my Architectural registration in 2022.  In 2023 I obtained my General Contractors License. While pursuing my professional career I had the opportunity to expand my expertise by moving into advanced manufacturing and food processing along with building my knowledge of construction projects by working for national design-build companies. Through all my opportunities my passion has remained residential architecture and construction. I find it a true honor to work directly with my clients to design their dream.

Our Process

NK Architecture is here to go from concept to completion for your next project. Whether your needs are a brand new custom home, addition, renovation, commercial or somewhere in between we are here to listen and help you move your project forward. We will define your needs during the programmatic phase on day one. We will then move to conceptual design once the program has been defined and provide a rough order of magnitude budget prior to moving to Design Development. We will look at your budget at every milestone to make sure your needs and budget are being met. Once we are in the design development phase we will help move into the construction phase if the design-build process is chosen. As a design-builder we have the opportunity to move straight into construction to reduce schedule in the project all while continuing on with the details of the project. If the design-build process is not chosen then we are able to provide support for the bidding process or vetting process of general contractors for your vision to be built. Once in construction we have the capability to act as the builder, as the Construction Manager or just be with you as the architect during construction. Our process is no different whether it is a commercial or residential project. No matter what the phase is you will be able to visually see your project as we model it in our software. There is no project too small or large for us to bring your vision to fruition. We are here to bring your ideas, thoughts, needs and wants to reality.

We are here to serve you.

Preconstruction Design

During preconstruction a program is established, then conceptual design will commence to finalize the plan, massing of the project and major design elements.

Design Development

Once the plan and major design elements are finalized the details start to be developed. During these phases the construction budget is developed and worked through.  If the design-build process is selected then a  schedule is developed to reduce project schedule and get you in your dream faster.

Final Design & Construction

The overall design will be developed and completed during the construction document phase. We have the ability to be an owner representative during construction if the design-build route is not selected. If it is then during this phase we will finalize budget and schedule for the entire project.

Occupancy

Our team will walk with you during construction to help with the administrative part of the project (materials, doors, windows) all to get the project to occupancy and you in your home or building as you envisioned.
